How the Myers Briggs Test Can Help You Find a Career
How the Myers Briggs Test Can Help You Find a Career You might know exactly which field youââ¬â¢d most like to work in, but not exactly which sort of position. To be really successful in your job searching, it is important to know your strengths, but also to know exactly how those strengths could best be employed- to the benefit of your potential company and yourself. Hereââ¬â¢s how to use myers briggs testà to help you figure out exactly which direction to push yourself in for the best and most productive job search. What is the Myers-Briggs?The most widely popular test is the U.S. is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The test assesses different aspects of your personality through a series of multiple choice questions, with the aim of classifying you as introverted, extroverted, or some blend of both. What the letters tell youThe Myers-Briggs test gives you one letter for each of four categories. Each can tell you a lot about yourself, but hereââ¬â¢s an outline for what these letters can tell you about your ideal career:Your w orld: Extroverted vs. Introverted (E or I). This can tell you a lot about the work environment or culture that would suit you best. Are you better at a desk in your own space and working at your own pace? Or in a big crush of people, chatting and constantly exchanging ideasYour process: Sensing vs. Intuitive (S or I). This tells you how you take in information, whether that is through your physical senses, or whether you prefer to take in information, interpret it, then figure things out by more emotional means.Your method: Thinking vs. Feeling (T or F). This tells you how you make decisions. If youââ¬â¢re a data-based hyper rational thinker, then youââ¬â¢re probably a T. And if you take all possible ends and different peopleââ¬â¢s needs and circumstances into account whenever you make decisions, then youââ¬â¢re more likely an F.Your mode: Judging vs. Perceiving (J or P). Whether you think quickly, make decisions quickly, etc. Or whether you like to take your time and ge t the full picture before making your move. How to use your scoreYouââ¬â¢ll get a four letter ââ¬Å"scoreâ⬠with some combination from the above categories. Depending on your particular combination, youââ¬â¢ll be able to figure out which careers and positions will suit you best. For example:PragmatismIf youââ¬â¢re an ST, someone who likes to take in facts and make decisions based almost entirely on those facts, then youââ¬â¢ll want to focus on jobs that privilege that kind of logical thinking. ES could look for client-oriented positions in banking or insurance. IS could focus on behind the scenes administration or law enforcement. Same use of data, different work environment- with each requiring different kinds of interaction with clients and/or coworkers.CaretakingIf youââ¬â¢re an SF (or even a PF), you might be best suited to be able to use your people-based decision-making for a purpose. ES could work in nutrition or cosmetology, talking to people all day and h elping them to be their best. IS could do more one-on-one jobs like social work or veterinary work. Same people skills, fewer people to interact with.TheoryIf youââ¬â¢re both intuitive and data-oriented (NT), youââ¬â¢ll want to work with data where you take in the information, interpret it theoretically, then apply it. ES could make great managers, salespeople, or real estate agents. IS could do very well in software, engineering, and other technology jobs.EmpathyYouââ¬â¢re a people person. More oriented towards your intuition and your sense of what is going on than hard data or judgments (NF). ES will do great in health care or the service industries. IS could work in library science or design- working more with objects and spaces and ideas than directly with people, but using the same traits.Whatever you turn out to be, itââ¬â¢s always best to know thyself- thoroughly and honestly- in hopes of determining which careers would bring out the best in you.

Strategic Leadership & Future Leaders Research Paper
Strategic Leadership & Future Leaders - Research Paper Example Strategic Leadership and Future Leaders Introduction The influence process can be defined as the strategies applied by leaders so as to provide vital leadership in the daily management of an organization. The top management of an organization is under obligation to provide direction to its followers other than participating in the day to day running of the organization. Many theories assert that organizational leaders are capable of employing their professional style to that of the culture of an organization (Griffin and Moorhead, 2011). At times, they may decide to shape the organization for which they lead to fit their style of leadership. Basically, there are five main influence processes as common witnessed among many leaders. The processes include direction, resource allocation, own behavior or role modeling, reward system, promotion of talented leaders and selection. It is argued that irrespective of the influence process used by the leaders in managing their organizations, the decisions they make in a great way impacts on their organizationââ¬â¢s direction. Moreover, it also influences the organizationââ¬â¢s employees through motivation and conduct. This implies how critical decisions made by leaders are for the organization as a whole. ... Direct Decisions Organization leaders are charged with the control of mission and vision of the organization. This implies that decisions made by the top leaders regarding the mission and vision impacts directly on the organization. It is the mission and vision set by the organization that shapes the culture of a given organization. This implies they are key in determining the direction taken by the organization. The mission and vision of an organization is attained through proper strategies, which are, in most cases influenced by top leaders of an organization. Essentially, decisions influence strategies include; issuance of directives to followers and appointments. Organizationââ¬â¢s top leaders are exclusively under obligation for hiring individuals who manages crucial segments of the business such as the sales which is vital in determining the direction taken by the organization (Raelin, 2003). Resource Allocation An organizations resource is composed of money, technological a nd human resources. An organizationââ¬â¢s top management has a lot of control over the resource be it allocation or distribution. This implies how profoundly top management in an organization influences considerably activities and events within an organization. A case in point to elaborate this is a situation where organizational leaders may decide to allocate more monetary resources to a particular department such as sales and marketing while limiting fund allocation to other departments. By allocating and directing the organizationââ¬â¢s resources, the managementââ¬â¢s aims at working toward meeting the organizationââ¬â¢s missions and visions by putting in place structures that are capable of promoting these. By doing so, the organizationââ¬â¢s top

Contemporary Issues in Business (Individual Report) Essay - 1
Contemporary Issues in Business (Individual Report) - Essay Example Greenhouse emissions are currently projected to increase significantly within the next few decades which will cause an increase in global temperatures and subsequently put to great risk the human society and natural environment worldwide (Pedersen and Nordic Council of Ministers 2000). The temperature on the surface of the earth is largely determined by the balance between the energy that is constantly re-radiated to space from the earth mostly in the form of infra-red radiation and the energy that comes from the sun which is seen to be in the form of visible radiation (sunlight). When the sunlight passes through the earthââ¬â¢s atmosphere, it has relatively very little warming effect but when it finally manages to come into contact with the earthââ¬â¢s surface, it warms it and the earth in turn warms the atmosphere by both convection and via emission of infra-red radiation which are absorbed by the greenhouse gases (R.I.C. Publications 2007). The greenhouse gases eventually return some of the infra-red radiation back to the earthââ¬â¢s surface which ends up further warming the earthââ¬â¢s surface. An analogy of this chain of events is often made with reference to greenhouses which generally allow sunshine to pass through their clear plastic or glass which in turns stop the heat that is inside the green house from escaping into the atmosphere and hence the use of the term ââ¬Å"greenhouse effectâ⬠(R.I.C. Publications 2007). Fossil fuels are formed when the bodies of living organisms die and remain compressed and heated over extremely long periods of time to form natural gases, oil and coal. When burned, fossil fuels are seen to produce significant amounts of energy a factor which causes them to be considered as an extremely valuable energy source. However, the burning of these fossil fuels produces the emission of carbon dioxide, resulting in the introduction into the carbon cycle of carbon that would have otherwise still remained trapped

UV-vis works Essay Example for Free
UV-vis works Essay Even though I accidentally spilled most of my product while pouring it into the separatory funnel, the product left was identical to everyone elses by comparison of the UV-vis spectrum.à Discussionà One possible source of error in this experiment occurred when I spilled the product. Although a small amount of it remained in the beaker, I decided to pipet theà spilled product off the desk to save as much as I could in order to complete the experiment. At first I thought this might cause my product to be somewhat impure, but after looking at the UV-vis spectra, it was obvious this had no effect on the outcome. My spectrum looked perfectly fine. Conclusion UV-vis can be very helpful in finding out how pure your product is and what the components are by looking where the absorption bands are and the extent to which the components were absorbed. UV-vis works by electrons moving from the ground state to a higher excited state. The types of transitions possible are. The sigma to sigma star transitions take place at 200-700 nm and are usually not seen in UV-vis spectrum. N to sigma star transitions require less energy than sigma to sigma star transitions and occur at 150-250 nm. The last type of transitions occur between 200 and 700 nm and are the type which occur in the Cu(TTP) spectrum. Peaks that are shifted to shorter wavelengths caused by transitions are named blue shifts. The peaks that are shown in our Cu(TTP) spectrum are caused by transitions and are classified as red shifts. This is caused by attractive polarisation forces between the solvent and the absorber, which lower the energy levels of both the excited and unexcited states. This effect is greater for the excited state, and so the energy difference between the excited and unexcited states is slightly reduced resulting in a small red shift. This effect also influencesà transitions but is overshadowed by the blue shift resulting from solvation of lone pairs (UV-vis Absorption http://www.shu.ac.uk/schools/sci/chem/tutorials/molspec/uvvisab1.htm) Questions and Answers 1. Why does Cu(TTP) elute before H2TTP? The copper would elute first. The reason for this is because of the acidity of the hydrogen atoms. Since the hydrogens are acidic, they want to hold onto the silica gel, which will cause them to elute after a longer time period.à 2. The rates at which compounds elute from a silica gel column depend on any pretreatment of the silica gel. In which case would a compound elute faster: down a column made of silica gel that had been previously heated at 150 degrees Celsius under vacuum for 8 hours, or down a column made of silica gel that had been sitting open in the laboratory for a few days? Explain. When you heat silica gel, water evaporates off the gel leaving open sites where polar molecules can bond. When you let silica gel out in the open, it will collect water molecules on it. Compounds would elute faster down a column that has been heated at 150 degrees for 8 hours because the gel would be dry.à 3. A mixture of cis and trans isomers of the neutral complex Cr(CO)4[P(C6H5]2 is loaded onto a silica gel and eluted with CHCl3. Which isomer would elute first, and why? The trans isomer would elute first. References Skoog Douglas; Holler F. Othello :: essays research papers
Othello. Othello is the title of the character and play that we all studied earlier this semester. However, it is Othello the character that I intend to discuss. Othello is the husband to the beautiful and innocent Desdemona, whom he murders because the villainous and honest Iago has misled him. A Moorish general in Venice, a society plagued with racism and where adultery is neither condemned nor approved of, Othello is in the midst of a society that will hinder and not support his progress. The central theme of the drama is the alteration of a noble lover to a raving killer, under the influence of the deliberate connivance of his aide, Iago, who convinces him that his wife is having a love affair with another officer named Cassio. Unable to trust the falsely corrupted Desdemona - he lacks the essential element of love and it is this absence of trust that causes Othello to disintegrate morally. This destructiveness extends to his own suicide, when his error of judging Desdemona to be an adulteress fails him. Our closely woven relationship with this traumatised and gullible Othello causes us to suffer with him, as he experiences emotional agonies, such as the destruction of his once reputable nobility, character and marriage to the young Desdemona. Through Act II, Scene I, Othello presents himself to us as a grandly positive and content character, "It gives me wonder great as my content To see you here before me. O my soul's joy!" (Act II, Scene II). At this stage in the play Othello has also assembled his character to impose on us an impression, that he is a noble and prominent figure in the Venetian establishment, and respected military man and a loving husband. He carries himself with an impressive dignity while frankly delighting in his young wife's unconditional love, which he values above the "seas worth", (Act II, Scene I). When the couple defend their marriage against the prejudiced Brabantio, father to Desdemona, who associates Othello with witchcraft, (because Othello is black), in Act I, Scene III, it becomes evident that the couple share an unconditional love for one another. However, in the second half of the play Othello abandons this perfect love, for a blind and unfounded jealousy too strong to act in a just manner. He loses all faith not only in Desdemona, but especially himself, "That's he that was Othello; Here I am.

Flood Measuring System Essay
This chapter includes a brief overview on experimental research and the process that led to the selection of the research design used in this study. Additional topics addressed in Chapter 3 are: research locale, and instrumentation. Research Design An experimental type of methodology was used to conduct this research. An experimental method of research is a systematic and scientific approach to research in which the researcher manipulates one or more variables, and controls and measures any change in other variables(http://explorable.com/experimental-research.html). The method is appropriate to this study since it aims to overcome the present condition of our country, specifically the areas near Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila during rainy days. The technique that the researchers will use under experimental method is developing a device that monitors the height of the water using sonar sensor and sends it to the server by the means GSM module. Then the data received by the GSM will be sent to the application created for android phones via internet. The purpose of employing the experimental method is to overcome the present condition of the areas near Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila during rainy days. The researcher opted to use this kind of research considering the desire to acquire data from the device that the researchers developed so as to formulate rational and sound conclusions and recommendations for the study. Block Diagram Flood Monitoring Unit Server Android Application Research Locale The researchers will conduct the study to three different areas near Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, these areas are selected to inform the students of the said university if the route they will take is still passable or not. Instrumentation An instrument was developed to monitor the flood in three different areas near Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. This section will discuss the instrument and its development. The first step in developing the instrument was to make a prototype that will monitor the height of the flood on the said areas. It consists of a sonar sensor, Gizduino and GSM module. The sonar sensor is enclosed in a container with a hole at the bottom that will sense the height of the water measured in inches. It detects the height of the flood with respect to the ground as its basis. The maximum flood level itcan detect is six feet which is equivalent to 72 inches and it only reads data in whole number. It is SIM dependent. The GSM module will send the data gathered to the server. Then the server will analyze the data and relays it to android applicationvia internet. The following will be the list of materials to be used in constructing this project. 1. Microcontroller The Gizduino is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328 and ATmega168. It has 14 digital input/ output pins, 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. it is an open source computing platform based on simple input/output (I/O) board and the use of standard programming language; in other words, it is a tool for implementing a program you have designed. Gizduino is programmed using the IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Gizduino is ideal for beginner programmers and hobbyists because of its simplicity compared to other platforms. It is a multiplatform environment; it ca run on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. The Presidential Election Of 1912 Essay - 1664 Words
Presidential Election of 1912 In the presidential election of 1912 the Democrat Woodrow Wilson, Progressive Theodore Roosevelt, Republican William Howard Taft, and Socialist Eugene Debs all had their opposing views on the issues that concerning the future of democracy in America. Some of the issues were; the Conservation of Natural Resources, Direct Democracy, Labor, Race, Tariff, Trusts and Regulation of Business, and votes for Women. Majority of the people desired change, as would I if I were to have lived during this time period . My vote would have been for Theodore Teddy Roosevelt, as the change he promises is fair compared to the other candidates. Labor would be one of the issues that would be most important to me as a voter. Working is part of life, it s necessary to be able to provide for your family. In 1912, the working conditions were not safe or healthy. The long working hours, the dangerous work space, the low pay all would make people desire change. As a voter, I would want to know that in the future I would be safe at work with good pay to be able not to live in poverty. There were many strikes that occurred, demanding change in labor in 1912. In the Lawrence Strike, ââ¬Å"people fought for higher wages, shorter hours, safer working conditions, regulation of woman and child labor, and workmen s compensation.â⬠Another issue that would be important to me as a voter would be the tariff.
